yamaha / 1978 l-15

In 1974, YAMAHA introduced the "L-series" lineup with a stronger emphasis on luxury. The first model to be released was the L-31, a luxury sublimation of the FG-2000 and a bridge to the Custom series released in 1975. The "L" in the series name stands for "Luxury," and the L series featured the highest grade models among the three FG/N/L series of the time. The L series also included four models from 1975 that were later given the ostentatious title of "Four Heavenly Kings," each with a distinctive and well-designed look.

The model introduced here is the L-15, manufactured in 1978.
This so-called early model features the original Western body shape and marquetry fingerboard inlays.
The inlaid marquetry purfling and rosette, which are common to the later model, are so detailed and beautifully eye-catching that they could be called craftwork.
The top is made of Ezo pine, a well-known high-grade wood used by Yamaha, and the side backs are veneers of Hakaranda, also a high-grade wood. The back of the body is made of quarter-sawn Hakaranda, which has a mature and solemn atmosphere, but when you look at the sides, you will be amazed at the powerful and powerful grain with a lot of undulation.

Many of the acoustic guitars designed by Terry Nakamoto in the 70's are often described as having a rather large sound, but this may not be the case with this particular guitar.
The crisp attack, deep bass, and endless sustain characteristic of the Hakaranda are impressive.
Even when playing chords that include tension notes, the sound is not muddy and the scale is conveyed well, making it a magical instrument that makes you want to play it for hours on end.

The previous owner has taken very good care of this beautiful instrument, and it is hard to believe that it is over 40 years old.
The original YAMAHA hard case, which was sold separately at the time, is also included in beautiful condition.
The nut is ivory and the saddle is set up with a cow bone. Please experience the wonderful sound created by the combination of all the elements.
