1968 Gibson Les Paul Custom Black Solid Body Electric Guitar, Serial #524846. This 1968 Gibson Les Paul Custom in Black is a player-grade, restorable example from the first year of the Les Paul's return after its discontinuation in 1960. It features an all-mahogany body with no maple cap, just like 1950s Les Paul Customs, and a one-piece mahogany neck. While there are unsubstantiated rumors that 1968 Les Pauls were built using leftover 1950s bodies and necks, no definitive proof exists. Tuners changed to Grovers. Pickup covers removed. One T-top and one pre-T-top pickup (appear original but have not been removed for verification). Tailpiece and bridge replaced (originals included). Toggle switch replaced and installed upside down. Pots date to the 26th week of 1968 with original wiring in the control cavity. 11.5lbs. Original hard case included. Condition: Fair.
