Tausch electric guitars are designed by luthier Rainer Tausch, who hand-selects each piece of wood for his instruments with a focus on sustainable resources. Hand-built in Bavaria, Germany by a small team of 10 employees, all Tausch electric guitars are meticulously crafted to provide a characteristic sound and perfection-oriented design, down to the smallest details.
With a background in professional carpentry as a cabinet maker, Tausch officially launched his boutique guitar brand over 25 years ago, with the release of his 665 model. But, for a woodworker who made his first guitar at 12 years old in his grandfather’s woodshop—using an axe handle he shaped into a neck (onto which he then nailed a fretboard!)—you might say that Tausch has been a luthier for as long as he’s been a guitar player, professional carpentry skills aside.
With an eye for gorgeous tonewoods that are as pleasing, aesthetically, to any onlooker’s eyes as they are to any musician’s ears, Tausch guitars combine the builder’s woodworking heart with his performing experiences as a musician, bringing it all together into his unique, boutique electric guitar playing experience.
As a result, Tausch Guitars have become a mainstay on the annual Boutique Guitar Showcase, which stops at Chicago Music Exchange once a year on its tour, offering guitar lovers a chance to see some of the most unique, innovative boutique builders in the world—and now they’re a mainstay among the boutique brands you’ll find at CME!
