This Silvertone Twin Twelve Model 1484 was purchased from the original owner, who purchased it on credit from Sears back in the mid 60s.

Included is the original Sears credit paperwork, along with the manual/schematic that the original owner hung on to all these years.  Even the rubes are original!

My first attempt at firing the amp up began with a slow ramp up on the variac as the amp hadn't been used in years.

Everything looked good, but the output was very weak when I got to full power.  I eventually found one bad resistor by tracing through the circuit with my amp tech.  That completely solved the issue.  Every other component inside the amp is original.  The caps are working within spec and none of the electrolytic caps are bulging or showing signs of distress.

All the tubes have been tested, the jacks, pots, and tube sockets cleaned.

I replaced the power cable as the original was ungrounded and quite weak.  I also eliminated the hard-wired speaker cable that permanently connected the head to the speaker cab.  I added a 1/4" jack to the head and a male plug to the speaker cable inside the cab.  This makes the setup much easier to use, and allows you to easily use the amp or cab with other rigs.

There was no footswitch with the amp so I added a new one.  It triggers the cool sounding tremolo and the weird, typical Silvertone reverb.

The original Jensen speakers are intact and they sound great.

The entire amp is in very nice condition and it runs well.  As always, I will say that this amp is all original.  1960s capacitors could give it up at any time.  Regular use can help stave off cap failure, keeping them from drying out.  Conversely, if you want to be able to depend on the amp for gigging, etc I would recommend a cap job.  I just like to leave original, operational amps this way!
