2019 Preston Thompson 00-12RCM Old Growth Redwood and Cuban Mahogany Natural Satin

This Preston Thompson 00-12RCM was ordered by Hilltop Music in Ashland, Oregon in 2017 and was built prior to the passing of Preston Thompson.  The label bears his signature. 

The guitar was purchased from the wife of the original owner, who proudly purchased the instrument in 2019 at Hilltop.  His friend and guitar playing compadre joined his wife when they brought the guitar to the shop, sharing stories about how dearly he cared for the guitar, and it shows, despite the fact that he did play it regularly.

The instrument is beautifully built and wrapped in a light, satin finish.  The finish and the scalloped, Adirondack bracing let the body ring. The woods are gorgeous.  The top is Tunnel 13 Redwood, featuring perfect grain and beautiful figure.  The back and sides are Cuban mahogany.  

Southern Pacific Railroad's Siskiyou Summit Tunnel #13 was built in the 1880’s using virgin Redwood timbers harvested in Southwestern Oregon. These magnificent Redwood timbers were salvaged from this historic tunnel after a fire in 2004.  When opened up, the wood was discovered to be exceptional, master-grade tone wood, air dried in this tunnel for more than 120 years.

The Thompson shop displayed its skill with the custom inlays - the torch headstock adornment and the fingerboard snowflakes.  

This is a fingerstyle guitarist's dream, right down to the 1 3/4" nut and 2 5/16" string spacing.  The neck shape is a soft V.

The package is wrapped in a Harptone case - just about the nicest in the business.

There are two shipping cost options for purchases made on our site for these states and those to the east of them: Montana, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas.  Select Standard shipping at checkout and your item will be shipped via UPS three-day-air.  Select Economy shipping and your item will ship via UPS ground.  For Reverb purchases, there is one cost option for these Eastern states and shipment will be made by UPS three-day-air.  Shipments will require signature on delivery, no exceptions.  If there is damage, the buyer must retain all packing materials intact and picture them immediately and send them to sales@maharsvintageguitars.com.  Less than 1% of our shipments are damaged in transit, and we are committed to making sure your item arrives safely, but we are taking these additional measures to make sure you are happy with your purchase.
