Presenting the Paul Reed Smith 40th Anniversary Custom 24-08 Semi-Hollow Limited Edition celebrating four decades of PRS Guitars, this one in Charcoal Cherry Burst. The Custom 24-08 keeps many of the foundational specs as the original Custom – the guitar that started PRS back in 1985 – but adds a new level of versatility with its TCI pickups and EQ mini-toggle switches. This limited edition instrument also features a semi-hollow body, ziricote fretboard and headstock veneer, and special inlay package. The 40th Anniversary Custom 24-08 Semi-Hollow Limited Edition starts with a “10-top” grade figured maple top, mahogany back and neck, and a ziricote fretboard. This wood combination, along with PRS's thorough wood drying processes, creates a stable and resonant foundation. The addition of semi-hollow construction adds an even fuller organic quality to the tone, while the f-hole also adds an elegant visual touch. Now made with American alnico and updated build specs, PRS's TCI pickups are designed to offer a full, musical sound reminiscent of single-coil and soapbar tones. The dual EQ mini-toggle switches act as tuned high-pass filters when engaged (in the up position), removing shelved low-end and allowing the high frequencies through for more clarity and musical highs. “The EQ switches were developed with and first featured on the Private Stock John McLaughlin model in 2023. Both John and I felt that they offered a different, but just as versatile, sound that played a significant role in the musicality of that guitar. I am happy that we are now extending this feature into more models.” – Paul Reed Smith Additional specifications for this instrument include a 24-fret, 25” scale length neck with “old school” birds with outlines designed to feel like home from the moment you pick it up, the PRS Gen III patented tremolo so you can flutter and divebomb, and Phase III locking tuners with wing buttons to keep you in tune without dulling your sound. Limited to 300 pieces worldwide, this special edition features both traditional design features and new appointments, making it an essential piece for serious musicians and collectors alike. A Hand-signed 40th Anniversary certificate included. Photos are of the actual guitar for sale, SN 0400175.
