Description

The Wet Hot American Bummer Delay can do everything from crystal clean digital delay all the way to a verbed-out, modulated, noisy and seasick guitar sound reminiscent of leaving a cassette tape baking in the sun on your dashboard in 1990. If you can’t relate to that last description, I’ll translate it: totally shoegaze and lo-fi. Finally, a Delay pedal for people who hate.. themselves. This pedal is the soundtrack to all the most memorable moments in your life, mostly the bad ones. But it’ll help you make the songs that get you through the struggle.

We packed a LOT into a small form factor, saving you pedalboard space and potentially reducing all of your delay, reverb, and modulation needs into just one pedal. I needed a doctor or a scientist to help me make this long list of ideas a reality, so I enlisted the help of Neil Graham from Dr. Scientist to bring the Wet Hot to life (so you know you’re in good hands). Only problem is, it wasn’t born a normal pedal, or evil like Frankenstein’s monster.. it’s just a total bummer. In a good way. Promise. You’ll love it, if you’re even capable of love.

Controls

REPEATS: Sets the number of repeats

TIME: Sets delay time (up to 1 second of delay)

D T LF Toggle (Mode): Digital mode (crisp, clear, balanced repeats), Tape mode (full, fat, colorful repeats), and Lofi mode (thinner, slowly degrading repeats)

MIX: The amount of delay, modulation, or noise blended into your dry signal

NOISE Toggle: Left is off, right is on. Introduces white noise to the signal, with the wow knob acting as a noise’s volume in tandem with the Wow/Flutter. The Mix knob also can fine tune the amount of noise. Intended to add to the lo-fi or vintage vibe of the sound, simulating tape degradation or just a shitty noise floor on a home recording

MOD Knob: First off, you can turn the Repeats knob all the way down to turn the delay off and use the Wet Hot as a reverb or chorus pedal. Or both! All the way down on the Mod knob is OFF, the first third of the rotation is a reverb setting that adds longer and more lush reverb the closer you get to 10:00. There, it switches to Chorus, where the intensity of the Chorus effect increases from 10:00 to 2:00, and at 2:00 it enters a modulated reverb mode that blends both the chorus and reverb, and again, it gets longer and more intense as you crank it. That last 1/3 is a very happy place for shoegazers and 80's lovers.

WOW Knob: Introduces wow and flutter to the signal, emulating the inconsistencies of tape wear or uneven speed of a playback device. The wow is a wide, sweeping, consistent change in pitch and there is flutter lurking beneath, which takes the form of quicker blips and glitches in the sound. Note: WOW knob only affects the sound if there is delay or reverb present.

Wow Secondary Functions: Hold the Bypass Footswitch for a couple seconds (LED will blink) to switch from Wow mode to Flutter Only mode. This is great if you want to introduce glitches and blips to your sound without the sometimes too-intense variation of the Wow. Hold again to switch back to wow.

Another fun under-the-hood function is unplugging the power from the pedal, and while holding the Bypass Footswitch, plug the power back in. This makes the Wow setting a random wow instead of a consistent wow. COOL! To go back, just unplug and plug back in the pedal without holding the bypass Footswitch.

Tap Tempo: If you hold down the tap tempo footswitch, you’ll enter an infinite repeat timeloop that is fun for dramatic holds and for making tons of noise. Just let go when you’re ready to let go. Oh, and more importantly, this is a tap tempo footswitch. Tap it at least twice to your desired tempo for the delay.

Delay/Tap Tempo Subdivision Toggle: This switch changes the subdivision of the repeats/tap tempo so you don’t have to tap super fast and look weird if you don’t want to. Quarter note, eighth note, or eighth note triplet.
