Description

Most guitars in the 1970's went downhill in a big way. CBS bought Fender and wrecked the quality by the mid 70's. Gibson was sold to an Ecuadorean beer and cement company and, predictably, the quality suffered. Epiphone left the US and Gretsch was sold to Baldwin and the guitar world wasn't going to recover for many years. Except for Martin. Martin wasn't without some problems in the 70's (recession didn't help) but over all, 70's Martins are quite good guitars. Yes, there were some that got their bridges installed in the wrong position but this isn't one of those. This is a very clean D35 with an Adirondack top and Indian Rosewood back and sides. It is big and bold sounding. Lots of bottom but not boomy. Action is medium and could be lowered somewhat if desired. Intonation is very good. It doesn't need a neck reset and the top is not bellied. It's a wonderful sounding guitar that won't break the bank. No cracks or repairs. Original frets. It has a pickup (and it works) but the wiring needs to be reattached-it's loose inside the body. Easy fix. I don't know the brand of the pickup. It has its share of bumps and dings but, hey, its 50 years old. You should look so good at 50. Case is a molded Martin that is recent.
