Outline
This is a kotsuzumi (small drum) body. The inside of the body has a rough planing with longitudinal stripes, and there are twill stripe blade marks between the holes. The weight of the tsutsumi-bodo is 377 grams. The tsutsudo is from the Edo period to the end of the Edo period. The maki-e is thought to have been re-hung after the Meiji period (1868-1912) because there is no damage on the maki-e and no rubbing on the edge in contrast to the usage of the tsutsu-bodi. There are some scratches on the inside of one side of the barrel and the maki-e is floating.
