Beautifully decorated with a wabi-style head in maki-e lacquer.
Outline
Houshikan Hoshou (bamboo flute) with a beautiful wabi-style head in maki-e lacquer. The head is decorated with dry lacquer maki-e with mother-of-pearl inlay and wisteria. (The head mirror and bamboo root joints are finished in nashiji lacquer.) The metal fittings are made of nickel silver. The mouth of the utaguchi is made of silver. It is thought to be made from the end of the Edo period to the Meiji period. Comes with brocade bag, pillow and carrying case (1970s).
Condition
Adjustment has been completed by a sho specialist. Adjustments include: >Washing and tuning. Disinfection and cleaning inside the head. Cleaning of bamboo tube inside and out. Reed replacement and adjustment of the eighth reed. Reed adjustment of the tenth and upper reed. Adjustment of the lower, upper, seventh, and ratio of the eighth. Adjustment of the boat bottom surface and repair of the bamboo lacquer on the bottom of the 8. The bamboo material is dyed white bamboo. (It is not boiled bamboo.) There is no breath leakage at the root joint.
