1949 Gibson LG-2

This is a rare find. It is a sweet example of the great craftsmanship of this Gibson era. The beautiful sunburst finish still glistens, albeit with an occasional glint of the aged crazing of the finish that gives so much character and personality to the instrument. The Spruce top and aged mahogany back and sides give unbelievable dynamic tone. The Mahogany neck with the rosewood fretboard is the fatter U neck that so many players enjoy. It gives the grip of a Les Paul on a very light and comfortable acoustic. The guitar is all original. There are no major repairs that have been required. Because of age and use there are a number of scrapes and scratches, which one would expect with a well-played instrument this old. None of the blemishes are structural in any way. The action is low to medium with lots of fret left on the neck. We’ve had her completely inspected and fully, professionally set up by our luthier. Comes with a period hardshell fitted case. There is no visible FON or serial number on this guitar, which is not overly uncommon during this period. All of the various indicators (tapered headstock, headstock width, Kluson tuner type, logo and nut width) place this beauty at 1949-1951 in age. If you want a comfortable, incredibly dynamic guitar that is hard to put down, and screams vintage vibe, this is the one you’ve been looking for. She would be a great add to a collection or better yet a daily player for a working musician or enthusiast. Don’t miss out on this rare find.
