I don't think there is a guitar out there in the vintage world that requires more due diligence than an SG. The weakness of the neck join (and there were at least five different versions of that) makes them prone to trouble. Breaks or cracks at the heel are so common, it almost makes more sense to ask if it doesn't have a heel problem than if it does-they are almost a given. A heel repair is usually obvious but you need to look beyond that. Look in the cutaways for what looks like checking. It's not. The necks are prone to a lot of movement and those "checks" are actually stress cracks. They may only be in the finish or they may go to the wood. Look carefully. This SG has some finish flaking away at the neck join but no repairs and no issues beyond the finish. Would it be better if the flaking wasn't there? Yes, it would be but the finish issue is reflected in the price and shouldn't be a problem going forward. The pickups are sealed PAFs. All parts are original except for the frets. Condition is 8.5+. The red has faded a bit but not to that awful brown that some fade to. Case is excellent and original. Weight is just under 7 lbs.
