Description

Refinished and hardware “updated”. In some ways this is the coolest guitar we’ve had all year. What? How many times do you find an unbroken late ‘50s Les Paul Custom for cheap? Okay, okay, Willie’s, what’s the story? So this has been owned by the same person since it was just a ten year-old used guitar. It was bought as you see it except it had a poor refin. Chrome-covered “patent sticker” pickups and matching chrome Gibson bridge and stoptail. And chrome Schallers. The previous owner had it professionally refinished to the current color and if we are being honest it looks great. Who would have guessed? And those humbuckers sound great. You would have several choices: 1. Full refinish in black and finding a trio of PAFs.This option is expensive but remember it’s an unbroken body and neck. 2. Just go gold hardware and leave the fine-sounding pickups in there. 3. Leave it. It’s a great guitar as is - nice neck, great tone, and looks great. The guitar had a Bigsby (we can’t fool you). The switch tip, the “poker chip”, pickguard, three pots, and truss rod cover are original, as are the back plates. It also has the long neck tenon (see photos) and it has original ‘50s Gibson gold “hatbox” knobs. See - this is charming as heck. The case is the original pebble-grained 1950s case but has been dolled up with a 1776 Americana motif. It’s pretty light at 8.5 pounds and it has its original frets but nobody will care if you refret. Consigned, shipping will be more expensive - call us, we’ll explain.
