The Gibson ES-150D is a rare semi-hollow double-cut model produced from circa 1969 to 1979, blending the body depth of an ES-335 with full hollow-body resonance Jazz Guitar.
The serial number on this guitar falls in a range that can't be nailed down to one particular year - the range you'll find when you sear it is from 1970 to 1975. The pots are impossible to read - the date codes are obscured.
The label inside the guitar says ES-175D. I've seen this on ES-150s in the past - they must have run out of ES-150D labels.
This Natural-finished example features maple laminate top and back, a mahogany center block, and a set mahogany neck with Indian rosewood fingerboard for warm, articulate tone. It is wired with a pair of original Gibson humbuckers—each with individual volume and tone controls—and a master volume for vintage versatility and rich, dynamic response.
I really dig having a master volume on a Gibson guitar. It allows you to set the pickup balance with their individual volume knobs, then adjust the overall output volume without messing with the two volume knobs.
Players love the ES-150D’s 24.75″ scale length for comfortable playability and the classic Gibson knee-cut body contours for ergonomic balance. This particular instrument remains in excellent vintage condition with minimal finish checking, fully functional electronics, and original Kluson tuners—ready to deliver that signature Gibson warmth in any musical setting.
The guitar shows checking throughout but is in excellent condition overall.
A professional refret was performed at some point, which is an improvement over the original frets, which were very low from the factory. The original nut was shimmed in the process.
The rest of the guitar is original with no issues. The neck plays perfectly all the way up with low action. There is room in the truss rod for future neck relief adjustments.
The case is a somewhat recent Epiphone hardshell.
