Gibson Custom Shop 2016 Historic Collection 1964 Firebird III VOS
The "1964 Firebird III VOS" model is a reproduction of the specifications from 1964.
Designed by automotive designer Ray Dietrich, this model was the first Gibson model to adopt a through-neck construction for rich sustain, and features a 9-ply mahogany and walnut neck with glued mahogany wings.
Specs such as short vibrato rollers, dot position markers, and banjo tuners have been reproduced. The neck has a rounded, slightly thicker shape, and pickups are equipped with two mini-humbuckers.
There is tarnish on all metal parts, rust on the bridge studs, and paint peeling on the tuner peg posts (root part) and vibrola (mainly on the back side), which have a copper-like tint to them.
There are sticker marks on the pickguard, multiple tiny dents and scuffs on the body top, buckle marks and numerous tiny dents and scuffs on the body back, several tiny dents on the body sides and edges, several tiny dents on the head, and multiple dents on the back of the neck.
There are about 80% frets remaining, and the neck and truss rod are in good condition.
The handwritten certificate is marked "V" (Gibson's original shipping mark). (Gibson made a mistake when shipping).
