2006 Gibson Custom Shop 1957 Les Paul Reissue All Mahogany with Burst Backer #1 pickups, developed under the guise of a complete revival of the original Patent Applied Four. This pickup reproduces the sound changes of the original PAF pickups over time, with subtle changes made to each type. Type 1 has a slightly reduced number of coil turns and has a delicate, clean, crisp sound that is especially suited for the front position. Type 2 uses a DC resistance of around 8.0 ohms, as seen in many original PAFs, for a mellow tone with a firm attack. The neck features a fat '50s-style neck. The Les Paul was made with the utmost attention to detail, including Bumble Bee replica capacitors, and no time or expense was spared in its production. The all-mahogany Les Paul sound has a sweetness and strength in the mid-range.
