We already have a couple vintage Fender Telecasters in our inventory, but offered here is yet another, in this case a 53 year-old model built in 1971, serial number 306762. This wonderful Tele is all original and in fabulous cosmetic condition.
This guitar's specs include an alder body, a maple neck with walnut 'skunk stripe' and original blonde finish. It has a January 1971 neck date and the neck carve is a lovely medium 'C' shape with depth measurements of .858" at the first fret tapering up to .935" at the twelfth fret. The pickups, wiring, solder joints and electronics are all original to the instrument. The pots date to August, 1966. It weighs in at a very nice 7.5 pounds!
The condition of this guitar is quite remarkable. Please check out the close ups of the few flaws that are evident. It has seen relatively little play over the past half century and has obviously spent most of its time in the case. The original frets remain in very playable condition with approximately 50% of their useable life remaining.
Condition is important obviously, but this guitar plays and sounds great too. The neck is straight and the truss rod works smoothly. The tone is what you pay for and this old beauty has it in spades with lots of Tele twang from its moderate output pickups. Please check out the brief sound sample I have included below. Nothing sounds quite like a vintage Tele!
This lovely old Fender comes in it's original case which also remains in remarkable condition for it's age along with the 'ash tray' bridge cover.
There are few electric guitars more elemental to the sounds of the music we all love than a Fender Telecaster, particularly an old, well-preserved example like this one. A collectible classic indeed! Make it yours!
