1982 Fender Stratocaster, Smith era, swamp ash black
1982 Fender Stratocaster, American made in Fullerton, California! 1st version "Smith" Stratocaster. Original black finish in very good condition, E2 serial number on a nice rosewood neck; neck setup and fret work makes this a great player. Heavy for a Strat at 9 lbs., 9 oz., gotta be swamp ash! Gives a bit more mellowness of tone when overdriven, and the added density lets it really sustain. (Think SRV.) Finish does have some damage on bottom edge; looks like someone kept missing the guitar stand (see photos). Other than that, front and back are in great shape with some scratches and dings typical for a 40 year old guitar. Has a four-bolt neck with the small headstock and large decal, and a traditional strings-through-body Fender trem on a deeply 50s-style contoured body. Standard Stratocaster three-pickup, three-knob config, with traditional slanted body-mounted chrome output jack, and a 5-way switch.

Original deluxe padded and fitted red lined hard plastic case (oversized 43-1/2 x 16-1/2 x 5) in excellent condition.
A complete fret level and recrown/redress, smoothing out of the rough fret ends, detail clean and polish, adjusting for intonation and playability, tightening of hardware, test and cleaning of electronics was done more than a year ago; guitar has been played a few times since for evaluation, but that's been it. Restrung with D'addario 9s.

NOTE: Our black guitars are incredibly difficult to photograph. Especially in trying to show all of the imperfections and keeping a good color balance on the white parts. In these photos, most of the body areas that show unevenness of color, white streaks or colored patterns are usually showing reflections.
