Description

Occasionally, a guitar comes along that looks stunning from a distance and feels incredible in your hands. This 1965 Stratocaster, from the renowned Mel Bay collection, is a beautiful example of this. Over its 60-year lifespan, it has been beautifully preserved, showing only minor playwear, expected finish checking, and a lovely natural patina. Being from 1965, it features some transitional specs, such as a small headstock, pearl dot inlays, a transitional logo, and the ever-desirable early grey-bottom pickups. Beneath the glossy almost “piano” black finish lies a striking silver undercoat, visible in the few nicks and chips scattered across the body. Despite its clean appearance, this Stratocaster sure packs a punch. It’s incredibly snappy and resonant, offering the perfect balance between the characteristics of a pre-CBS and post-CBS Strat. All this combined with its provenance would make this an incredible addition to any collection!

Overall Condition: 8.5, Light patina, minor playwear, and some normal finish checking
