Custom color Fenders are very popular collectibles and have become very valuable depending on the color, rarity and model. Many of the colors, especially the light ones, tend to change over time due to the greening of the clear coat that seals the color. Blues turn green, whites turn green, reds turn brown. The more true the color, the more it is worth. Stratocasters in custom colors tend to be the most valuable and the blue tones tend to be among the most popular. Fender's "baby blue" was called Sonic Blue and a couple of very famous players named John and George acquired a pair of Sonic Blue Strats in the early 60's. Sonic Blue is one of the rarer colors and is among the most desirable. Add a few more desirable features-spaghetti logo, green guard, clay dot markers and white export case- and you have one of the Fender holy grails. This 64 is in 9+ condition showing almost no wear and only a few dings. I'm calling it "near mint" although that little bit of flaking finish by the trem cover puts it on the edge of excellent and near mint. White case is also near mint.
