The 1955 Fender Tweed Pro amp is a sleeper amongst the famous Fender amplifiers of the era.  Earlier wide-panel amps utilize octal-based preamp tubes that simply don't perform as well.  The large cabinet and 1x15 configuration gives it more headroom and bottom-end presence than smaller tweeds, making this an exceptional vintage Fender both in tone and collectability.

This 1955 Fender Pro Amp 5D5 is a rare and powerful example of Fender’s early tweed amplifier era, featuring the classic wide-panel cabinet and the sought-after 5D5 circuit.

Pushing around 18 watts through its original 15" Jensen P15N alnico speaker, this vintage combo delivers deep, articulate lows, warm midrange, and sweet high-end sparkle—ideal for blues, jazz, and vintage rock tones. Its dynamic response and rich harmonic content make it a favorite for studio use and discerning players.
This Pro Amp retains key original components including transformers, speaker, and tweed covering.  It does appear that the tweed might have gotten a little shaggy in some areas, causing a previous owner to trim the fuzz and re-lacquer the tweed.

The amp has professionally serviced electronics ensuring reliable performance. The filter and bypass caps have been updated.  The power cable was not changed for a grounded one, so I'll tackle that prior to shipping.  The handle is a replacement part.  The speaker was reconed some time ago - it is nicely broken in.

Shipping policy:
When you purchase this item you are hereby agreeing to this shipping policy. We remove tubes from amps that could be damaged in shipping.  We remove the chassis from some amps so that the large transformers don't damage a chassis or cabinet.  These cases result in multiple box shipments, and they require the buyer to do some assembly on delivery.  We do this because we have experienced shipping issues in the past, and this is our prevention measure.  Vintage amps are sold as-is because they can need service intermittently.  Everything is tested here in our shop on the way into our inventory, and again before shipping.  We will cover shipping damage, but we cannot be responsible for the failure of vintage components in 20-to-50-plus year old amps. Shipments will require signature on delivery, no exceptions.  If there is damage, the buyer must retain all packing materials intact and picture them immediately and send them to sales@maharsvintageguitars.com.  Less than 1% of our shipments are damaged in transit, and we are committed to making sure your item arrives safely, but we are taking these additional measures to make sure you are happy with your purchase.
