*Sold on behalf of Jane Tucker, this bass guitar was formerly owned by Freddy Marks of Rod, Jane & Freddy fame. It was purchased for Freddy by Jane Tucker in London in 1987. (See accompanying lot image capturing the moment Freddy received the instrument.)
Rod, Jane & Freddy were the resident musical trio on Thames Television’s beloved children’s programme Rainbow, as well as stars of their own eponymous show throughout the 1980s and 1990s. Freddy played guitar, Rod handled drums, and Jane performed on keyboards.
The trio composed, performed, and produced all their own music for over two decades, leaving a lasting legacy in British children's television. In recognition of their work, they were awarded the BASCA (now The Ivors Academy) Gold Badge Award in 1995 for Outstanding Contribution to the Music Industry.
