I found this 1976 Fender Jazz Bass locally from last week from the wife of the original owner.  It popped up right after the truck came by to haul inventory off for the Dallas vintage guitar show, which is a good thing for our website customers because it surely would have sold there.  She said that he bought it and immediately stashed it.

The bass is an exceptional example in mint condition, complete with original tags, and case candy.  There is only one very small, surface scuff on the lower/back edge of the body to show that it ever left the case.

This vintage Jazz Bass delivers the punchy low end, articulate mids, and smooth playability that have made it a favorite among bassists for decades.  It set up extremely well with great action.  There is zero fret wear.  I am pretty certain that the flatwound strings are original to the bass.  I also believe that I was the first to remove the bridge cover.  There is a foam mute under that cover, and it had formed and hardened around the strings.

This bass is all original, featuring its factory finish, electronics, and hardware. The lightweight ash body combined with the slim maple neck and rosewood fingerboard offers an ideal balance of comfort and resonance, making it a joy to play whether you're in the studio or on stage. The dual single-coil pickups provide the classic Jazz Bass tone — deep and round on the neck pickup, bright and growling on the bridge, with a powerful blend in between.

A true collector-grade instrument, this 1976 Fender Jazz Bass includes the original hang tags, vintage hard shell case, and shows no signs of playwear, making it a rare find for players and collectors alike. Fender basses from the mid-1970s have become increasingly sought-after, especially those in this condition with verified originality and light weight.

The case is in mint condition as well.

I am sure that nobody has ever taken the instrument apart, so I didn't remove the neck for the pictures.
