Here is a really special piece for your consideration; an early Fender Custom Shop limited run model called a “Custom Rosewood Thinline” per the certificate of authenticity. This guitar dates to 1994 during the John Page era of the Custom Shop. Despite being just shy of 30 years old this rare piece, number 07 of a 25-piece limited run, remains in seemingly un-played condition.
This guitar has a semi-hollow alder body with a solid rosewood top with F-hole. The neck is rosewood also, with a maple “skunk stripe” and a 60’s C-shape carve (.835” – .900”). It has a 9.5” radius fretboard with a 1.650” bone nut and 6105 (narrow tall) frets. It has early Custom Shop pickups (9.27k neck and 10.11k bridge) with a modern Tele wiring setup. It has a vintage style Tele bridge with three compensated brass saddles. The entire guitar is finished in clear satin nitro lacquer with no aging (NOS format). It has a total weight of just 7.0 pounds.
It is obvious that this guitar was purchased and put away until recently. It remains in flawless condition and the frets show no observable wear. It plays like a new guitar as well and sounds great. Please check out the brief sound sample included below. The rosewood adds just a bit of additional ‘snap’ to the voice of the guitar and the semi-hollow construction makes for a light instrument that is comfortable to play. It comes with not one but two (2) G&G cases, a vintage style tweed thermometer case as well as a black rectangular case, along with the certificate of authenticity.
This guitar is something particularly special. I've had several Custom Shop Thinline Telecasters over the years, but this is the first time I have come across an instrument from this very limited run.
