Offered here is a Robert Cray Signature model from the Custom Shop, this one built in 2022 and in "as new" condition. If you are like many Strat players, myself included, you rarely reach for your tremolo bar or it simply never gets out of the case. You love the sound and feel of a Strat, but your fingers are your vibrato and the improved tuning stability and lighter weight of a hardtail bridge are much appreciated. If you are one of these players and you are looking for a super-high quality, light weight, Custom Shop Strat in pristine NOS condition, then this fabulous Strat may be for you!
This gorgeous guitar has an Alder body and is quite light weighing 7 pounds, 1 ounce. The neck is made of a single piece of highly figured Maple with a '61 medium C-shape and depth measurements of .820" at the 1st fret increasing to .930" at the 12th per my measurements. The lovely dark Indian Rosewood fretboard has a 12" radius, vintage style frets and a 1.650" bone nut. All the hardware is gold-plated. The single coil pickups are custom wound for this guitar and have a vintage output.
This guitar's rather unique combination of a very flat fretboard radius with vintage frets make for a very smooth and easy playing instrument. Amplified though my blackface, the sounds of Robert Cray and Albert Collins (where Robert Cray got his start) are unmistakable. The understated cosmetics specified by the Artist give this instrument some tasteful 'bling' that adds to it's cool vibe. Be sure to check out the brief sound sample below.
This beautiful NOS (no aging) guitar is in collector-grade condition and could pass for new. The Inca Silver finish and gold hardware still gleam like the day this guitar was built. The frets are spotless. It comes in it's original brown G&G case with the certificate and all the accessories.
A new example of this model has a street price of $4,450. Get this mint and seemingly unplayed 2022 example for a cool grand less.
