1961 Fender Champ 5F1 Tweed

This 1961 Fender 5F1 Champ is one of the latest tweed Champ to hit the shop, and it definitely is the cleanest!  Check out the tweed, original handle, the grille - it is ridiculous!  

At intake, I found that the amp was completely original.  I slowly brought it up on the variac and gave it a whirl.  It was obvious that the caps were beyond operational - the sound just wasn't there. 
 
I was pretty dumbfounded, looking at the screws and nuts as I disassembled the amp.  They look like they were just pulled from new stock.

I went about a careful replacement of the filter caps, hiding the new ones inside the original sleeves.  I had just received some great looking, grounded gray power cables that resemble the original two-prong cables - they're even the same thickness, so I was able to reuse the Heyco strain relief clamp.  I retained all the original parts and will ship them with the amp. 

The yellow Astron caps are working correctly, so I was able to leave them untouched.

I fired it up after the work and was really pleased.  The speaker is original, with the original cone, and it does sound a touch tired when pushed, but that isn't surprising.  Being that it has the original cone, I'd replace it immediately and put something new in there for daily use.

The only flaw - someone, somewhere along the line flipped the bottom panel when putting it on, so there are two extra screw holes there.  If I hadn't told ya, you'd never know, but that's how I roll.
