1964年にフェンダー社エレキギターの市場拡大を目的として、子供や初心者向けに発売されたスチューデントモデルがムスタングです。
ショートスケールネックやダイナミック・ヴィブラートを装備したブリッジ、フェイズアウトサウンド等の特徴を持ち、現代においては多彩なジャンルで使用される楽器です。
この1978-1979年製のフェンダー、ムスタングは1974年頃から使用され、1976年には標準仕様となるホワイトアッシュ材をボディに使用したモデルで、ホワイトアッシュならではの芯のしっかりした抜ける高音も魅力です。
指板にはメイプルネックとローズウッド指板の接合面が指板のアールに沿って貼られているラウンドボードを採用しており、全音域帯にバランスの良いサウンドも特徴。
