Extremely Rare…1940 Ephiphone Olympic Archtop
This is quite a find. Though highly sought after, there are few of that remain. The Olympic was one of Epi’s original archtops. This one comes from the classic Epiphone Golden New York era where craftsmanship was at its zenith. In recent years Epiphone has reintroduced the Olympic name in a lower end electric model and a lower quality "master-built century." They are not to be confused with the original Olympic. In our opinion they're just cheap imitations that have exploited and traded on the original Olympic name. But not to worry, this guitar is the real deal. She's a highly crafted survivor. We found her in need of some TLC and our highly skilled luthier has taken her through a complete inspection and minor restoration. She comes with a carved Adirondack spruce top; beautiful arched mahogany sides and back; mahogany neck and Brazilian rosewood fret board with the early Epiphone pearl script inlay on the headstock. She’s had binding repair, finish touch up on the back and pickguard replacement due to age. All other parts are original. Amazingly after all these years no crack repairs were needed. The neck is straight and easy to play. The frets are in great condition. The action is set just right. There are a few surface scratches, some buckle rash on the back (sealed as mentioned), and well earned, very cool crazing in the finish. The vibe of this guitar is amazing. The tone is all Epi…bright, full, clear and as powerful as you need it. The body at lower bout is 15 ½”; She has a 25 ½ “ scale and is 1 11/16” at the nut. Comes in original hardshell case. These are a very rare commodity. Don’t miss the addition of this well preserved survivor to your collection or as a fun, daily player. Golden era Epis don't come around every day.

We ship via our preferred carrier and provide you with all tracking information so that you can plan for receipt of your new instrument. We also highly recommend that all shipments be shipped with a receipt signature required. We make every effort to provide you honest information about the instrument you purchase. However, every flaw, scratch or ding may not be photographed or noticed on every instrument. By the nature of what we are collecting and selling, virtually all vintage instruments will have dings, scratches, and various other imperfections that come with age and use. We call it character. That's why we love them. Please carefully look at photographs and contact us if you require additional information. Please note that every instrument has been inspected and set up by our luthier for playability and appearance. But, your instrument may still require additional set up by you to make it exactly what is most comfortable and acceptable to you. In the unlikely event that your instrument arrives in a condition with damage or other issues not previously anticipated, please contact us immediately and we will assist. Should a return be required due to damage incurred in route, we must be notified within 48 hours. Please note that all other returns are at the recipients expense. Contact us to authorize and assist you in either case so that we can minimize cost and ensure the safe return of the instrument. All returns must arrive in the same condition in which they left our store and be insured for the full value of the instrument.
