Presenting the Collings D2H Rosewood Dreadnought, this one in Natural, with the standard 1 11/16" nut width. The original square-shouldered 14-fret dreadnought is the most popular steel-string acoustic guitar body shape in the world. While Collings is certainly not the only company to build them, they bring a new tonal clarity to the depth and warmth usually associated with such a large, deep-bodied guitar. The classic tonewood combination of a Sitka Spruce top paired with Indian Rosewood back and sides is an enduringly popular combination delivering power overtones and rich bass response. Although its bass response makes the dreadnought ideal for vocal accompaniment, Collings versions are also often employed by bluegrass flatpickers who must compete with inherently louder instruments such as banjos and fiddles. Hand Voiced From the starting point of the wood's density and rigidity, each Collings acoustic guitar top is hand selected, evaluated, and graduated to its own unique thickness; maximizing the tonal potential of each top. Premium Tonewoods Each Collings acoustic guitar, from their most affordable model to the highest end, are built with the finest tonewoods available. Each wood is acquired, acclimated, and hand selected by master luthiers at their shop who pick each component with the whole tonality of the end instrument in mind. Playability A combination of exacting PLEK machine leveling and hand fret dressing ensures consistently excellent playability and a silky fret feel. Finish By meticulously hand-sanding between coats, Collings's nitrocellulose lacquer finishes measure between .005” and .007” in final thickness, maximizing acoustic response while providing excellent protection and aesthetics. Precision Tuning Premium Waverly open-gear tuners offer exceptional tuning stability and smooth reliable operation with a vintage aesthetic. Appointments Tortoiseshell binding compliments the warm hues of a mahogany back and sides. A black and white wood rosette and mother of pearl dot inlays complete the simple but elegant 1-style appointments. Premium Tonewoods The pairing of Sitka spruce with a Honduran mahogany back and sides creates a guitar with crisp yet warm articulation and a beautiful tonal balance.
