2025 Collings 290 Faded Crimson Red

1959 Faded Crimson, with a killer Lollar Charlie Christian pickup in neck position. We might call this the Plastic Ono Version after a guitar John Lennon played after the Beatles. The 290 is 24 7/8” scale with a one piece Honduran Mahogany body and a one piece carved mahogany neck. A big neck with a rosewood fretboard with a 1 11/16” nut width and 12” radius. Has the long mortoise and tenon neck joint. Also has a haircut peghead with a pearl Collings logo.

This guitar is very resonant unplugged and even more so through an amp. The Lollar Charlie Christian seems a perfect fit with the Throbak ’55/’56 Dogear P-90 pickup. The CC is beefy with strong bass that’s not muddy. The highs are smooth. The Throbak is amazing in growl and exquisite detail. Combined? Fahgetaboutit! Bell like highs with Clean bass with an out of phase mids. Every fret is perfect so it’s easy to play. Comes with a new deluxe hard case. #241829
